Gates Scholarship in The United States 2022-2023:
The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.
The scholarship was established by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and is named after American businessman and philanthropist Bill Gates. The scholarship is available to high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds, and has been described as “a life-changing opportunity”. Since its inception, the scholarship has supported over 5,000 students from across the World. The Gates Scholarship is widely considered to be one of the most prestigious scholarships available and has been ranked as one of the top five scholarships in the world. Total 300 grants are available for students to make their dream become true. These scholarships will cover all the expense to pursue an undergraduate degree from US university or college.

Gates Scholarship | Funding:
Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance* that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the methodology used by a Scholar’s college or university.
*Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation, and may include other personal costs.

Gates Scholarship | Eligibility Criteria:
Students have to meet the following criteria to be eligible for Gates scholarship.
- A High School Senior
- From at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
- Pell-eligible
- A US citizen, national, or permanent resident
- In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
- Additionally, a student must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program.

There is an Online Application System to apply for the The Gates Scholarship in the United States.
- You’ll need to create an MYTGS profile on the Gates Scholarship application portal.
- You need to Familiarize yourself with the application phases.
- After creating the TGS profile start the scholarship application process.
- Make sure to submit the application with accurate information.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of the following:
- An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 10% of his/her graduating class)
- Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)
