Emile Boutmy Scholarship 2022-2023 is a fully funded scholarship. This scholarship is offered by Science Po, France. International students from all over the world are eligible to apply. This scholarship is applied to undergraduate, masters and as well as PhD studies. Emile Boutmy Scholarship will provide up to 19,000€ per year.

Sciences Po created the Emile Boutmy scholarship, named after the founder of Sciences Po (1871), in order to welcome the very best international students from outside the European Union. The Émile Boutmy Scholarship is awarded to top students whose profiles match the admissions priorities of Sciences Po and individual course requirements.

The Émile Boutmy scholarship fund benefits from the generous support of its sponsors (benefactors, companies and foundations) who are eager to allow the most deserving international students to study at Sciences Po. Private sponsors can be in direct contact with scholarship holders during official organised events.

They support the Émile Boutmy excellence scholarship : BNP Paribas, Chalhoub Group, RATP Foundation, L’Oréal, Total.

Sciences Po Undergraduate programs offer a three-year curriculum grounded in the social sciences. Open to students with the Baccalauréat (or a foreign equivalent), these programs lead to a Bachelor’s degree.

Sciences Po’s Graduate schools offer two-year curricula leading to a Master’s degree with a number of professional specializations.

Emile Boutmy scholarship| Funding:

Emile Boutmy Scholarship will provide the following benefits:

Undergraduate:

The Emile Boutmy scholarship is awarded to students arriving at Sciences Po for their first year of studies.
The Emile Boutmy programme can take several different forms:

  1. A tuition grant of €7,300 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program, in addition to a grant to cover part of the cost of living of €5000 per year.
  2. A tuition grant of €7,300 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.
  3. A tuition grant of €5,000 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.
  4. A tuition grant of €3,000 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.

On an exceptional basis, a scholarship of 19,000€ may be granted to cover the three years of College. Scholarship amounts are decided during the different admission juries.
If you do not validate your academic year, your scholarship will be lost.
If you have been granted for a scholarship and decide to defer your admission, your scholarship will be lost.

During the year abroad (third year of the undergraduate program): scholarship recipients will retain their tuition fee grant and additional cost of living grant (if applicable).

Masters:

The Emile Boutmy scholarship is awarded to students arriving at Sciences Po for their first year of study. The Emile Boutmy program can take two different forms:

  1. A grant of €10,000 per year to cover tuition fees for the two years of the Masters
  2. A tuition grant of €5,000 per year for the two years of the Masters.

If you do not validate your academic year, your scholarship will be lost. If you have been granted for a scholarship and you decide to defer your admission, your scholarship will be lost.

Emile Boutmy scholarship| Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for Emile Boutmy Scholarship, a candidate must fulfill all the following requirements below:

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible Countries: All world countries

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be: first time applicants, from a non-European Union state, whose household does not file taxes within the European Union, and who have been admitted to the Undergraduate or Master’s program.

Students who are not eligible are:

  • Swiss and Norwegian applicants, since they may be entitled to CROUS scholarships
  • Candidates who have dual citizenship, including an EU citizenship
  • Candidates from Quebec for master’s degree (since they may take advantage of sliding scale fees same as European applicants). Candidates from Quebec for a bachelor’s degree are eligible
  • Master’s level dual-degree candidates. Only applicants for the following dual degrees are eligible:
    • the dual degree in Journalism Sciences Po/Columbia University
    • the dual degree Sciences Po/Fudan University with the concentration Europe-Asia in Global Affairs (only applicants with Chinese nationality)
    • the dual degree Sciences Po/Peking University (only applicants with Chinese nationality)
    • BAMA ITAM
  • Ph.D. program students (thesis)
  • Candidates for the 1 year Master’s programs
  • Bachelor dual degree candidates (unless as part of a specific agreement)
  • Exchange students
  • Candidates applying via the French graduate admission procedure

The Emile Boutmy scholarship may not be combined with other scholarships (Eiffel scholarship, AEFE scholarship, BGF…).

This scholarship is awarded based on merit and according to the type of profile sought for this program. Social criteria may also be taken into account.

Please follow the following application instructions to apply for this scholarship:

Undergraduate College, first time applicants

Applicants from foreign secondary schools:

Applicants from foreign secondary schools must indicate that they are applying to the Émile Boutmy scholarship in the “Financial information” section of their Sciences Po application.

Please note that we might ask applicants to provide a proof of income and documents explaining their family situation (e.g. income tax return for both parents, payslips, divorce certificate, unemployment benefits, documents related to alimony, child support or retirement pensions, death certificate…).

Applicants from French secondary schools:

Applicants from French secondary schools must contact the Admission Office by email, once their application has been validated on Parcoursup. Your email must contain the following information:

  1. Indicate the country in which you are resident for tax purposes 1
  2. Indicate the country in which you are resident for tax purposes 2 (optional)
  3. Total annual income (in euros) of the household from the year before last
  4. Number of financially dependent children in the household (including yourself)?
  5. Are any of your siblings currently pursuing higher education?

Once admitted, the applicants must provide proof of income and documents explaining their family situation (e.g. income tax return for both parents, payslips, divorce certificate, unemployment benefits, documents related to alimony, child support or retirement pensions, death certificate…)

Master’s level, first time applicants:

Masters level candidates must indicate that they are applying to the Émile Boutmy scholarship in the “Financial information” section of their Sciences Po application.

Please note that we might ask applicants to provide a proof of income and documents explaining their family situation (e.g. income tax return for both parents, payslips, divorce certificate, unemployment benefits, documents related to alimony, child support or retirement pensions, death certificate…). Applicants must also attach, if applicable, their language test before the application deadline of the scholarship.

Candidates currently in deferral (Undergraduate College and Masters level):

Candidates who are currently in deferral can apply to the Émile Boutmy scholarship if they are in one of the following situations:

  • they did not apply for this scholarship in their application form
  • they had applied and obtained this scholarship last year but lost it due to the deferral

In this case, you need to apply to the Émile Boutmy scholarship by filling out this contact form. This email should include your CV as well as the following information:

  1. Indicate the country in which you are resident for tax purposes 1
  2. Indicate the country in which you are resident for tax purposes 2 (optional)

The Admissions Department is responsible for awarding Émile Boutmy scholarships. Please note that your scholarship request will only be taken into account if you are admitted to one of our eligible programs.

FINCAD, the Capital Markets Group of Zafin, remains committed to supporting talented women in the capital markets through our annual Women in Finance Scholarship opportunity.

The Women in Finance Scholarship are aimed at encouraging and supporting talented women in the field of finance, particularly those pursuing careers in financial asset management, market risk management and derivatives finance within the capital markets.

The International Peace Scholarship Fund was established in 1949, it is a program that provides scholarships for selected women from other countries for graduate study in the United States and Canada.

At the time of application, the applicant is required to indicate additional financial resources adequate to meet her estimated expenses. Examples of additional resources are personal and family funds, tuition waivers, work scholarships, teaching assistantships, study grants and other scholarships.

Peace Scholarships are not given for online courses, research, internships or for practical training if not combined with coursework.

P.E.O. Scholars have demonstrated their ability to make significant contributions in their chosen field of study, having assumed leadership positions in university academics, scientific research, medicine, law, performing arts, international economics, history, literature, government and other demanding fields.

PEO International Peace Scholarship | Eligibility

  • The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to women from outside the United States and Canada who are seeking advanced degrees from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Canada with the expectation that students will return to their home countries to utilize their education to make a positive impact and foster global peace.  
  • In order to qualify for her first scholarship, an applicant must have a full year of coursework remaining, be enrolled and in residence for the entire school year.
  • Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working only on dissertations are not eligible as first-time applicants.
  • International students attending Cottey College are eligible to apply for a scholarship. 
  • A student who is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada is not eligible. Note: A student with residency for tax purposes only is permitted.
  • Scholarships are not given for online courses, research, internships or for practical training if not combined with coursework.

The Eligibility Period runs from September 15 to December 15 every year.

Eligibility must be established before application material is sent to applicants. The eligibility information is available at the official website at any time but the completed form will be accepted electronically in the IPS office only between 15 September & 15 December.

Please do not provide any email address with a .edu extension. Use a personal email address instead of your school email address. The firewalls of educational institutions may block important messages from the P.E.O. system, which could cause severe delays in the application process.

1. What do the letters P.E.O. stand for?

P.E.O. stands for Philanthropic Educational Organization.

The original meaning of the letters, as established by the P.E.O. Founders, is reserved for members only.

2. Where do I find out more about becoming a P.E.O.?

The best way to find out about P.E.O. and how to become a member is talking to P.E.O. members. Ask around in your community to see if anyone you know is a member of P.E.O. or if she knows someone who is.

P.E.O. members are proud of their organization and are committed to helping women pursue higher education. Talking to a P.E.O. in your community will give you an opportunity to find out more about their chapter and what P.E.O. means to them.

3. Who is considered an active member?

To be considered an active member, dues must be paid to the member’s local chapter by the end of February.

Even if a P.E.O. member is no longer able to participate, P.E.O. members still support the ongoing work through educational projects by paying annual dues.

By maintaining active membership, if desired, a copy of the bimonthly P.E.O. Record will be received to help a member stay connected.

4. How do I apply for a scholarship, grant or loan?

With the exception of the IPS program, all P.E.O. scholarships, grants and loans require the applicant be sponsored by a local chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Click here for more information about the P.E.O. Projects.

5. What is the P.E.O. emblem?

Following a member’s initiation, she receives an emblem. It is engraved with the member’s name, chapter identification and date of initiation. In the event of a member’s death, the emblem may be buried or cremated with the member, remain with her family or be collected by the chapter president who will then return it to the Sisterhood.

6. Can the P.E.O. emblem be used on a headstone?

To be eligible for Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award:

  • You must be an international student who will be studying in Canada on a Canadian study permit.
  • You must be entering UBC from a recognized secondary school, or transferring from your first year at a post-secondary college or other university.
  • You must have graduated from high school no earlier than one year prior to the academic year you are applying to. For example, applicants for 2023 must have graduated from high school no earlier than 2022.
  • You must be applying for your first undergraduate degree.
  • You must demonstrate superior academic achievement (achieve all As or equivalent standard).
  • You must demonstrate a level of financial need that would otherwise prevent you from pursuing a UBC degree. (UBC automatically considers all international students for the merit-based International Major Entrance Scholarships and Outstanding International Student Awards scholarships, totalling a maximum value of $25,000 per year. If this amount does not cover your needs for tuition and basic living expenses, you are eligible to apply for the International Scholars Program.)
  • You must meet UBC’s admission requirements, including general and degree-specific requirements and the English Language Admission Standard.

1. Plan for UBC

Radboud Scholarship Programme for International Students | Funding

A Radboud Scholarship will reduce your tuition fee to € 2.314, For example: a grant holder in 2022/2023 will pay a tuition fee of only €2.314, instead of €16,000.

The scholarship also covers costs for visa, residence permit, health insurance and liability insurance for your stay in the Netherlands (Aon Student Insurance).

Radboud Scholarship Programme for International Students | Eligibility Criteria

You will only be eligible to apply for a Radboud Scholarship if you:

  1. hold a non-EU/non-EEA passport.
  2. are not eligible for the lower EU/EEA tuition fee for other reasons.
  3. have (will obtain) a Bachelor’s degree achieved outside the Netherlands, have no degrees achieved in the Netherlands and did not receive any previous education in the Netherlands (exchange programmes excluded, provided that they are part of the bachelor degree achieved outside the Netherlands).
  4. meet the English language proficiency requirement for the Master’s programme of your choice.
  5. have been fully admitted to the English-taught Master’s degree programme starting 1 September 2023 as stated in the formal letter of admission.
  6. are able to comply with the conditions for obtaining a visa for the Netherlands.
  7. are enrolled at Radboud University as a full-time student for the academic year and Master’s degree programme for which the scholarship will be awarded.

The selection of the scholarship recipients will be based on the following criteria:

  • Academic excellence
    – Outstanding study results in your present field of study, for example through grades, test scores, publications.
    – Relevancy of your previous degree to the master’s programme.
    – The ranking of the university where you obtained your previous degree(s).
  • Ambition
    – The quality and relevance of your motivation letter for the Master’s programme.
    – Show promise, based on previous achievements, performances and work in the relevant field of study.
    – Life experience and/or extracurricular activities such as internships or volunteering.
  • References
    – Quality of the recommendations in the two reference letters, preferably two academic references, please see these reference guidelines.

All students applying for the Radboud Scholarship will be individually considered by the selection committee of the faculty they applied to. This selection is based on the criteria as mentioned above. Faculties may base their selection on other criteria as well; some study programmes hold interviews for example.

You must have completed your application in the online OSIRIS Application system on 28 February 2023 23:59 CEST at the latest.

Please note, if you are applying for the Master’s programme in Biomedical Sciences or Molecular Mechanisms of Disease, the application deadline is 31 January 2023.

Please note that incomplete applications will not be considered for the Radboud Scholarship selection. An incomplete application means that some information and/or documents are missing or illegible.

Therefore, please be advised and submit your application in the online OSIRIS Application early February 2023 at the latest so that the Admissions Office has enough time to review your application and inform you in case that it is incomplete.

We recommend you hand in your proof of English proficiency before the deadline of 28 February 2023 as well. You will be informed about the final decision by department Student Life and International Mobility with respect to your application for a Radboud Scholarship before mid-April 2023 (date subject to change).

Radboud Scholarship Programme for International Students | Additional information

  • In case you are selected as a scholarship recipient and you are admitted to a two-year Master’s programme: to qualify for the grant again for the second year, you need to have passed all courses in the first year.
  • The Radboud Scholarship cannot be combined with the Radboud Encouragement Scholarship, Fulbright-Radboud Scholarship or Orange Tulip Scholarship.
  •  If eligible, you may apply for more than one scholarship, but only one scholarship will be granted.
  • However, please note that you cannot apply for both Radboud Scholarship Programme and Radboud Encouragement Scholarship, you can only apply for one of these two. 

Radboud Scholarship Programme for International Students | How to apply

You can apply by indicating during your application for admission for a Master’s programme in the OSIRIS Application system that you wish to apply for a Radboud Scholarship.

You will then be requested to upload three additional documents: two reference letters and a curriculum vitae. If you already uploaded these documents for the Master’s programme application, you can upload the same documents again for your scholarship application.

The selection for the scholarship and the admission to the Master’s programme are two separate processes: admission to the Master’s programme does not imply selection for the scholarship.

Funding is available to BA and MA students from all disciplines and all state-approved institutions of higher education who meet the requirements set out in §8 of the German Federal Law on Education and Training (Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz, BAföG), namely students holding a German passport and immigrants with prospects of residing in Germany permanently.

Limited funding is also available for students from other EU member states. The duration of the grant and the amount of funding provided are based on BAföG regulations. Scholarships can be awarded beginning from the second semester of studies.

The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Scholarships Department offers scholarship holders a wide range of support, consisting of political education events and summer schools, workshops conducted both domestically as well as abroad, symposia, and educational trips.

It also organizes practical training in fields such as rhetoric, conflict management and other key skills, time management, and self-management, bolstering academic qualifications, text and writing workshops, and specific seminars on methodology.

Particular importance is given to scholarship holders’ self-organization and their working groups. The work of the Scholarship Department is assisted by roughly 130 academic liaisons together with the staff and networks of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung.

Master Mind Scholarships | Eligibility Requirements

  • The student should apply for an eligible master’s program before the deadline.
  • The student should express his/her interest to be considered as a potential candidate for Master Mind scholarships before the deadline.
  • The student has a high standard of academic performance and potential. Excellent study results are reflected in a high-Grade Point Average (GPA), as mentioned on the transcript of records.
  • The student has good knowledge and command of the master’s program’s language of instruction, regardless of the minimum scores required by the master’s program:

o    a minimum overall score of 7 on the IELTS test
o    a minimum total score of 94 on the TOEFL test
o    a similar result in another official language test recognized by KU Leuven

The language test is taken before the Master Mind deadline. Language test results can be added after the deadline.

Students who have obtained a previous diploma in a programme taught in English in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America do not need to submit a certificate proving their proficiency in English.

  • All nationalities are eligible, except Russian citizens (consult here for related information). The previous degree(s) obtained should be from a higher education institution located outside Flanders. International students who have been on credit mobility in a hosting Flemish higher education institution are still eligible for a Master Mind Scholarship.
  • Students who are already enrolled in a Flemish higher education institution are not eligible. The only exception will be made for international students who, at the moment of their scholarship candidacy in Spring 2023, are enrolled in a specific preparatory program in order to start their master’s program in September 2023.
  • Students who enroll in the following programs for the academic year 2023-2024 are not eligible for the Master Mind Scholarships: preparatory programs, bridging programs, and distance learning.
  • Student mobility during the master’s program is allowed. However, at least half of the credits of the master’s program must be obtained at KU Leuven.
  • Students are not allowed to combine the Master Mind Scholarship with another scholarship from the Flemish Government or an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

Master Mind Scholarships Modalities

  • The duration of the mobility is 1 academic year for a master’s program of 60 ECTS credit points and two academic years for a master’s program of 120 ECTS credit points.
  • The student will receive a scholarship of € 9,600 per academic year.
  • Master Mind Scholarship holders will pay a reduced tuition fee. The rate for the 2023-2024 academic year is € 128,80. This rate may increase slightly in the following years.
  • There are a number of scholarships reserved for students from priority countries of the Flemish government: Japan (3), Mexico (3), Palestine (2), and the USA (5).

Master Mind scholarships | Selection Procedure and Timing

  • The master’s programs are invited to nominate students who have expressed their interest in Master Mind scholarships. 
  • The following elements will be taken into account when assessing the master’s program application files: academic performance, academic awards, motivation, relevant experience, demonstrated leadership abilities, sense of commitment, and top applicant profile.
  • KU Leuven will nominate up to 20 students.
  • The 20 nominated students will be informed by email about the positive outcome of the preselection before 15 April.
  • The closure of the nomination process will be announced on the KU Leuven Master Mind web page. 
  • The 20 nominated students will have to complete the Flemish government’s online Master Mind application form. They will compete with the other Flemish universities’ nominees.
  • The final selection will be made by the Selection Committee of the Flemish government.
  • The final selection results will be announced at the end of May or in early June.
  • The study period will start in September.

Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program at KU Leuven: As one of its contributions to Global Development, every academic year KU Leuven selects exceptional scholars from institutions in the Global South as scholarship candidates to obtain their PhD from the largest university in Belgium.

The KU Leuven Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program is managed by the university’s Interfaculty Council for Global Development.

The aim of the Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program is to give scholars the opportunity to conduct 4 years of PhD research in a “sandwich” system, which means that maximum 50% of the research is financed by and takes place at KU Leuven, whereas at least 50% takes place and is financed by the home institution of the scholar, supported by a local co-promoter.

Thus, as partners, both the KU Leuven and the home institution co-finance the research. KU Leuven, however, additionally offers a supervision allowance to the local co-promotor at the home institution and to the promotor at KU Leuven.

Candidates have to be assigned by the home institution and receive sufficient financial backing from that institution so as to pursue the research in an effective manner. This ensures that the candidate is embedded strongly in the home country and can, after obtaining the PhD, contribute to local capacity building.

The PhD degree is awarded by KU Leuven. Having obtained their doctoral degree from KU Leuven, the PhD holders are expected to mobilise their expertise at the university in their home country so as to help strengthen that institution’s capacity.

Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program | Eligibility criteria

1. The applicant must be a citizen of one of the countries included in this list.

2. Candidates who hold citizenship of the EU will not be selected. The same applies to applicants with a long-term EU residence permit.

3. The candidate’s latest Master’s degree must have been awarded no more than ten years prior to 1 October 2023 (including the ongoing calendar year).

4. The candidate must have been awarded an academic grade equivalent to High Distinction or higher. Degrees obtained with a final score equivalent to second class second/lower division will not be taken into consideration.

5. The research project must be of excellent academic quality, with a special focus on the development relevance of the proposal.

6. The research project must have a clear time frame indicating how the research periods at KU Leuven and at the home institution will alternate (a maximum period of 12 months at the home institution should alternate with a maximum period of 12 months at KU Leuven).

7. The candidate in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program must be formally affiliated to a university in the home country. In case the candidate has no such affiliation yet, she/he is eligible to apply to this scholarship programme but will only be granted the scholarship once such an affiliation is obtained.

8. The applicant’s home university must demonstrate sufficient financial support for the doctoral project, guaranteeing that the candidate receives financial means, through a fully funded full-time position including social security coverage similar to that of staff members at the same level and with the same qualifications within the home institution.

9. Candidates who are already enrolled as PhD-students at KU Leuven and who are financed by KU Leuven are not eligible for this programme. They may be eligible for the PhD Scholarships for Researchers from the South though.

10. Candidates who have been employed before in an EEA country other than Belgium are not eligible for Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program. They may be eligible for the PhD Scholarships for Researchers from the South though.

11. The candidate in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program must demonstrate a development-oriented motivation.

12. The candidate in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program must be supported by a KU Leuven supervisor.

13. The candidate in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program must be supported by a local co-supervisor at her/his home university.

14. The candidate in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program must demonstrate excellent recommendations from at least two relevant referees.

15. The candidate in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program must follow the 2-step application procedure. In order to be able to apply for a KU Leuven Global Minds Doctoral Scholarship, approval to enroll as a doctoral student at KU Leuven must be obtained first.

We strongly recommend to start this procedure at least 1.5 months before the deadline (March 9, 2023), (procedures started too late may not be evaluated in time by the doctoral committees or doctoral schools!).

16. The application deadline for Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program is March 09, 2023 at 05.00 PM GMT. Applications are submitted using a digital application form (available as soon as possible – see the Scholarship Application Form). On this form you will find further specifications (about the number of pages, language, attachments, and so on).

17. The candidate in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program has read and agreed to the Regulations, Obligations and Conditions for Terminating the KU Leuven Global Minds Doctoral Scholarship.

The candidate must also conform to the Internal Regulations for the Awarding of PhD Scholarships at KU Leuven (please consult your promotor on this).

18. Candidates in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program are asked not to submit their application unless it fulfils the conditions listed above. Incomplete or late applications will not be taken into consideration. No exceptions will be made.

There are two steps in the application procedure for Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program:

  1. First the candidate should obtain admission to a doctoral or predoctoral programme.
  2. Once this admission has been obtained, the candidate can apply for the KU Leuven Global Minds Doctoral Scholarship. As a result, being admitted to a doctoral or predoctoral programme does not automatically imply one has also obtained a scholarship.

1. Applying for admission to a doctoral or predoctoral programme in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program

In order to be able to apply for a Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program, candidates must first obtain admission to a (pre-)doctoral programme.

Please follow the online application instructions accurately.

Make sure to obtain admission early. We strongly suggest you obtain the admission 1.5 months ahead of the deadline of the PhD scholarship call (Marc 09, 2023). If the application procedure is started too late, the application file may not be evaluated in time.

2. Applying for a KU Leuven Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships

Once a candidate has received admission to a doctoral or predoctoral programme, his or her supervisor can apply for a KU Leuven Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships.

The deadline is March 09, 2023 at 05.00PM GMT.

Applications must be submitted by using the digital application form (online soon), wich is to be filled out by the supervisor.

In this form you will find further specifications (about the number of pages, language, attachments, and so on) for in Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program.

The main elements of the scholarship application are:

  • The candidate’s CV, utilising the Europass format
  • The candidate’s bibliography, utilising this form
  • The local co-supervisor’s CV
  • the research proposal (6 pages at the most), containing the following sections:
  • Proposed outline of the dissertation: provisional description of the objective(s) of the doctoral dissertation (research plan), the methodology, and any previously accomplished research related to the present proposal.
  • Proposed research timeline: clearly indicate the way in which the research periods alternate between stays at KU Leuven and stays at your home university, so as to obtain a ‘balanced’ sandwich system in line with the research objectives. The Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Program covers a doctoral research trajectory of a maximum of 48 months.
  • Indicate to which degree the proposed project fits in with the scientific activities of your local promoter.
  • Indicate the development relevance of the proposal.
  • A tentative bibliography of the most relevant sources.
  • The motivation letter (3 pages at the most), containing the following sections:
    • Describe the development problem you wish to target.
    • Describe in what way your project is relevant to the development of your region/country, and how the interests/needs of all stakeholders involved will be taken into account. State the applicability and possible short and medium-term benefits of the results of your research for the wider society (economy, social, environment, public health, etc.) in the developing country, and how you plan to disseminate those results locally.
    • Describe your personal motivation. Why did you choose the proposed subject?
